Default Cartoon characters - sketchbook

Hello everybody, this days I was thinking on my work and I decided to learn more about cartoon designs in 3d, it is always cool to take a time to learn other styles. Then I want to show you my 3 days working on 3 characters, as sketchs to learn, and probably next days I would show you more. Because I´m not a great drawing as other artists are, I´m taking some illustrations of big artist that I love and using it as models to make it in 3D.

King Arthur based on the film “The Sword in the Stone” (Merlín el Encantador – 1963 - Clásicos de Walt Disney).Modeled in Zbrush with Zspheres.

An Interesting bust, original Design by Mark Behm. Modeled in Zbrush with Zspheres.

A version of Alice, original design by Krista Huot, a great artist! Modeled in 3dsmax as base and sculpted in Zbrush, hair and mushrooms made with zspheres!

cheers!

Default Love it.

I'd like to see what your basemeshes looked like before you started sculpting.

I do admire your capability to bring 2D illustrations into nice 3D models!
Love Alice!

Default answer cartoon

filoppo - Thanks, I really love this character and film!

Gary Komar - Thanks!

Extra Dimensaional - thanks I loved the second because the teeth and expression! is funny

Martym - Thank you

Sycron - thanks

Huan80 - I´m going to try to show you my base meshes (I think I didn´t save that files..)

Darkmummy - Thanks alot, it was difficult overall in Alice, becauase the 2d illustration was "very 2D" but here is the challenge and the funny point of practice I think

Paint guy - Thank you!

As you could see here I use a base in zbrush with zspheres and the hair was made with zspheres and zsketch, so easy to use and very flexible.

Lovely work, Angel... look forward to seeing some texture work on those models, as vibrant as the characters you've modelled!

Here other 2 characters. I made a recreation of what I did to make it, since I didn´t save the zsphere base for each character next time I´ll do it. But I remember 90% how I made it exactly so I can show you it.

I made this character from a very simple base and must be awesome to work on any project with this style of models, is very fun!
making_genious.jpg

About Alice, I made a base in 3dsmax (because the hands are difficult to make) and I sculpted her, I made the hair in zbrush with zspheres and mushrooms too. I did the pose with transpose and cloned the mushrooms with subtoolmaster (duplicate)

Next character I decide to make is a Skydoll from Alessandro Barbucci, awesome artist! hope to show you something about it soon.

cheers
